Jake Miller (2013) |
For this post I wanted to share my recent photographs of Jake Miller at the 101.5 Back To School Bash in Scottsdale. It was in The Venue and had 4 total artists perform. The The Venue is fairly small, probably only fitting a few thousand or so in there, however the place is very lively with its vibrant colors and flashing lights. The openers, Nate Jentson, Jashmine V, and Camryn put on descent and rocking performances but Jake Miller was the clear winner of the night. Jake Miller was very energetic and jumpy hopping from one side of the stage to the other. Miller almost had a innocence like he was a young teenager on a trampoline. His songs though, were not young teenager at all. He sang of people getting bullied, having cancer, missing the one you love, etc. Miller's themes in his songs are very much mature. He put on an entertaining and appetizing show. His set was fairly short with a performance time of only about 40 minutes but it was a free show, so I can't complain. This show felt very much a preview to his Up Against Us Tour which will come back this December as he mentioned it a few times, however this show was quite good. This show previewed and showcased the huge potential Jake Miller has to make it big in the music world. He has a great voice, a nice smile, and songs filled with meaning. His songs aren't the typical teenage love songs or break-up songs but instead empowering songs like his brilliant, "There is No One Like Me." For these photographs I wanted to capture his empowering stage presence. For
Jake Miller and
With His Strength, I wanted to capture just that.

The Wave (2013) |
In
The Wave, I wanted to show off Jake Miller's playfulness. He threw out several smiles and as I described before was incredibly energetic. To get the effect of the hand in this photograph, I used a longer shutter speed. With the shutter speed being longer, the sense of motion is apparent in the photograph. I made sure that the shutter wasn't too long though because I wanted to make sure Miller didn't come out blurry. Lastly, for
The Look, I just wanted to capture how into his lyrics Jake Miller gets. When he sings about how unfair and cruel life can be he means it. Jake Miller isn't just an artist that sings his songs he wrote some time ago, he is an artist who relives the moment when he wrote the song on stage. Overall, the show was a wicked good time and really shows off the potential of Jake Miller. I have a feeling Jake Miller is going to become a force to reckon with in the near future in the music industry.
