More One Direction World Tour 2013

Niall (2013)
Zayn (2013)
Overwhelming (2013)
In honor of the new One Direction movie coming out, I decided to share some more photographs I took during their world tour. This photos are from Las Vegas and I wanted to focus on individual singers or duos with the expectation of All Together. As I mentioned in my previous post, I took several shots of the individual singers so I wanted to share some of these. For Niall, I wanted to capture the pretty lighting and how it filled up the stage. The red lighting seen in this photo, really adds to it and makes the photo seem somewhat three dimensional. For Zayn, I really like how this photograph captured the single spot-line that was on him during the song. For Overwhelming, this was taken right after a song. In this instance, Zayn is soaking in the crowd's energy and Harry is trying to prepare for their next song. It seams almost as though that they are overwhelmed by the such great energy the crowd is giving them, hence the title of the photograph. For Harry, I wanted to captured his powerful singing. When Harry sings he really belts it completely out. For Louie, I wanted to capture Louie singing. What I found interesting is that most of the time when he sang he closed his eyes. My guess is he was living in the music. For Reach For You, I wanted to capture how the guys tried to connect with their fans you also can see it in All Together. Doing little things like waving and pointing to fans really do add to one's concert experience. Lastly, for Trust, I wanted to capture the emotions between the guys on stage. Not only are these guys performing solos but also harmonies and duets. These guys to be successful really should get along and trust one another. Luckily for One Direction, they do. In this photograph the look Zayn and Liam give one another is almost priceless. We also see Harry singing. This photograph combines both the professional side of One Direction with Harry singing and the playful, sweet side of One Direction with Liam's and Zayn's look at one another.

Jake Miller Tour 2013

Jake Miller (2013)
For this post I  wanted to share my recent photographs of Jake Miller at the 101.5 Back To School Bash in Scottsdale. It was in The Venue and had 4 total artists perform. The The Venue is fairly small, probably only fitting a few thousand or so in there, however the place is very lively with its vibrant colors and flashing lights. The openers, Nate Jentson, Jashmine V, and Camryn put on descent and rocking performances but Jake Miller was the clear winner of the night. Jake Miller was very energetic and jumpy hopping from one side of the stage to the other. Miller almost had a innocence like he was a young teenager on a trampoline. His songs though, were not young teenager at all. He sang of people getting bullied, having cancer, missing the one you love, etc. Miller's themes in his songs are very much mature. He put on an entertaining and appetizing show. His set was fairly short with a performance time of only about 40 minutes but it was a free show, so I can't complain. This show felt very much a preview to his Up Against Us Tour which will come back this December as he mentioned it a few times, however this show was quite good. This show previewed and showcased the huge potential Jake Miller has to make it big in the music world. He has a great voice, a nice smile, and songs filled with meaning. His songs aren't the typical teenage love songs or break-up songs but instead empowering songs like his brilliant, "There is No One Like Me." For these photographs I wanted to capture his empowering stage presence. For Jake Miller and With His Strength, I wanted to capture just that.
The Wave (2013)

In The Wave, I wanted to show off Jake Miller's playfulness. He threw out several smiles and as I described before was incredibly energetic. To get the effect of the hand in this photograph, I used a longer shutter speed. With the shutter speed being longer, the sense of motion is apparent in the photograph. I made sure that the shutter wasn't too long though because I wanted to make sure Miller didn't come out blurry. Lastly, for The Look, I just wanted to capture how into his lyrics Jake Miller gets. When he sings about how unfair and cruel life can be he means it. Jake Miller isn't just an artist that sings his songs he wrote some time ago, he is an artist who relives the moment when he wrote the song on stage. Overall, the show was a wicked good time and really shows off the potential of Jake Miller. I have a feeling Jake Miller is going to become a force to reckon with in the near future in the music industry.

Jonas Brothers Tour 2013

Dreams Do Come True (2013)
Nick (2013)
For this post I wanted to add my photos from the Jonas Brothers concert this last friday. First off, I had the incredible chance to meet them! I have been a fan of their music since 2007 so to finally get to meet them was just a dream come true! They were so nice and welcoming. They are such great guys. This show was special not only because I got to meet them but also because it was the first time they have been on tour since 2010. This tour was their come back tour. The night was filled with great energy and lovely music. They played the classics like Lovebug, That's Just the Way We Roll, Burning Up, Hello Beautiful, and S.O.S. to name a few, along with brand new songs like Found, What Do I Mean To You, and First Time. The brand new songs have a great new vibe. The sound is much more adult and mature. The standout has to be What Do I Mean to You, it is pure rock and passion. They also have some cover songs like Thinkin Bout You which was fitting to sing in Arizona as the song mentions, "it usually doesn't rain in Southern California much like Arizona."

Joe Connected (2013)
What made the concert great was the fact that the three of them played instruments and just performed. They didn't have silly dances or cheesy staging. The stage had great big screens where they used colorful backgrounds. I tried to capture this in my photographs. For Nick, I wanted to capture Nick's musical talent. Not only is Nick a great singer and a great song writer, but also a great musicain and performer. During the show he played several guitars and even the piano. For Joe Connected, I wanted to show off Joe's determination he shows when he performs. In this shot, Joe is drawing out his emotions and pure passion to sing this song. For Nick in the Moment, I wanted to capture how Nick often gives it his all in concert. In this moment, he is completely in the music and living the moment. Lastly, for Kevin Has the Beat, I wanted to capture Kevin's guitar playing skill. Kevin Jonas is an awesome guitar player and he can strum really fast. He had such fun up there, constantly moving around the stage and trying to connect to as many fans as possible. Overall, the three men put on a wonderful, fanastic show well worth the three year wait. The Jonas Brothers are back and burning it up! Get ready for their new album this fall!

One Direction World Tour 2013

Overhead (2013)

Liam and Niall (2013)
Over the weekend, I saw One Direction live in concert with one of my best friends in Las Vegas and it was so amazing! The boys put on such a fun energetic show. It was filled with laughs, smiles and joy. The stage was huge and very theme oriented. They had video screens of the boys performing, back drops of England, photos of the boys, laser lights and much more. Another great thing One Direction did was they waved, smiled, blew kisses and even laughed at fans in the arena. I was fortunate enough to have Harry Styles smile at me and even blow me a kiss and of course I fangirled so he then looked directly at me and laughed. It was a very sweet thing for him to do. Zayn Malik also waved to me and looked my direction a few times during the show. Then the lovely Liam Payne waved and smiled at me and my friend when we held up hearts and kisses to him. It was an amazing feeling to have these boys actually look and smile at you. I have a video of these three boys looking at me and my camera, it is really surreal.

Harry Waits (2013)
Now onto my photos. Unfortunately a little bit past half way of the show, my battery died. The video I took in HD quickly drained the battery but I still was able to take some great shots of the boys. For Overhead, I wanted to capture the moment in the show where all the boys soared above the crowd and landed on a mini stage. All of the boys are excellent singers and this shot shows this. For Liam and Niall, I wanted to focus on individual singers. I took several shots of each of the boys singing and I really like how they came out. Each photo shows off how each member sings. Liam Payne sings with a tight grip whereas Niall Horan sings more relaxed. For Harry Waits, I wanted to capture a good photograph of Harry Styles. I really like this photo because it shows Zayn, Louis, and Liam singing with Harry looking towards my direction. It is also a cool shot because the way the boys are standing in this photo is a pattern. Both Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson facing one direction and Harry Styles and Liam Payne another. For Confidence, I wanted to captured the boys' wonderful attitudes they showed on stage. They did not worry about performing or show any nerves. They were simply confident and ready to have fun. This photograph is great as it show Niall smiling, Liam completely confident and Louis just having fun dancing. Lastly, 3/5 shows 3 of the 5 members singing. I like this photograph as it shows off part of the cool staging behind them. Liam and Niall also do this.

Bruno Mars Moonshine Jungle Tour

For this week, I wanted to post my review of Bruno Mars' Moonshine Jungle Tour. To begin, Ellie Goulding provided an entertaining warm up. She started off a little slow with descent music, yet hard to hear her vocals but as her show progressed the vocals became much clearer and she brought the arena chanting her songs. Her best performances were towards the end with Lights, Anything Can Happen and I Need Your Love. Ellie brought a great energy that got the crowd pumped up and ready to see Bruno Mars. Bruno Mars began his show with the sounds of the jungle roaring through the speakers. Then with the golden curtain fall, he begin to sing Moonshine. Bruno Mars gave very sexy and sly performances such as Runaway Baby, Treasure and Marry You. His show had a combination of some of his current songs from Unorthodox Jukebox and his last album Doo-Wops & Hooligans and some fan favorites such as Billionaire and Nothing on You. Mars also brilliantly added some great covers which further added to his already great show. His crew known as the Hooligans, brought a great vibe to the show adding pure fun. There was a great moment where Bruno selected a girl from the audience and all the Hooligans including Mars would compete to see who the best pick up lines.
Also,  Mars' dance moves were spot on with no gimmicky cliché moves. What made Bruno Mars' show great was the fact that he was having fun onstage and was able to actually play music. I wanted to capture that in The Hooligans and Shredding It Up. What too many performers do is take their show too seriously and for the audience it can be hard to tell if the performer is actually having fun. It was very apparent that Mars was as he flashed his beautiful smile several times and even laughed many times. I wanted to capture this in Just Smile. What was really nice was the fact that Mars actually had a band and was playing instruments. It was truly a night of music. Mars was an excellent drummer having an impressive drum solos after one of his songs and he shredded on the guitar. Lastly, Mars was able to bring some seriousness when it was necessary. He almost teared up in When I was Your Man and If I Knew. Overall, Bruno Mars' show was a fantastic night of live music and entertainment.
