For this week, I decided to focus on Abstract Close Ups. With this close ups, I wanted to point out all of the small details people usually take for granted. For Photo 13, I photographed this wooden bowl I have in my house. I liked the colors of this bowl and how un-uniform it is. Every part of the bowl is different shades of color. I also like how the texture and the surface changes throughout the photo. This photo almost reminds me of the Sun and its sunspots.

For Photo 14, I photographed a piece of quartz. I like how every piece of the quartz is not uniform. Most things are not uniform and I was hoping to capture this in both man made things and nature. Here, the bowl in photo 13 was made a person, but it is not uniform and the quartz in photo 14, shows that even nature is also not uniform.

Sticking Out And a Cloudy Day In the Desert

        For this week, I focused on several different ideas. The first was sticking out and being yourself. With photo 11, I was at Ikea and I noticed all of the green colored brushes and how there was one blue brush. I want this photo to represent being yourself, even if your different. To me, diversity is a huge part of life that we must all respect. Not everybody is the same, and we should value this. Without diversity, our world would be plain and not colorful. 

        As for photo 12, I was simply capturing the cloud cover in the desert by my house. Living in the desert, it pretty much never rains and is always sunny. It is nice, but at the same time, I do miss having rain. When I noticed it was cloudy, I just had to take a photograph and I love how the clouds take up the whole sky. Even though it is not rain, I was still happy to see that the sunlight was covered up. For both photographs, I used my Canon Rebel XTi Camera.

Attention to Details

     These are two photos I took while I drove by a mall. They had a small carnival set up and I liked how elaborate the merry-go round was. When I was taking this photographs I noticed how detailed the horses were, including in photo 9, and how in certain parts there were different animals such as the zebra in photo 10. I want this photographs to stand for the message of how people sometimes take color and everyday objects for granted, and to not worry about "fitting in."Photo 9 displays how even something as simple as a ride, is more complex than it seems. Here the detail work on the fake horse is very pretty and elaborate. One may not think about how much thought was put into making this ride if they simply just passed by the horse. Photo 10 to me is a symbol of being yourself, even it may appear old or unusual. Here, this zebra in the photo is still standing tall even though it is not a horse like the others around it. While this may only be an amusement ride, I think these two photos stand for something bigger: Pay attention to your surroundings and be yourself.

Confidence and Determination

These are two photos I took last week at my school's drama production. They were fixing their hair and make up during the intermission backstage. The play my school was putting on was Hairspray, which they did an incredible job doing. The play took several months to plan and prepare. The girl in photo seven was one of the "dynamite girls", where the girl in photo eight was part of the ensemble. I like these photos because they depict the strong determination that several actors and actresses have with being apart of a play. Acting and getting into a character takes a lot of work and confidence. If you want to play a part, you must become it. I also like how much attention was paid to all of the details of the actresses. Most people when they watch a play, do not think much of how much time is really spent on getting everything (costume, makeup, hair) to look just right, but I was hoping these two photos would give a good glimpse of what it is like, backstage. I used my Canon Rebel XTi Rebel camera.
