Aaron Carter

Meeting Aaron (2014)
With All My Heart (2014)
For this post, I wanted to share some photographs from when I saw and met Aaron Carter. Aaron Carter took over the music world in the 90s and throughout the 2000s. For the last year, he went on a tour, with hopes to come back into the spotlight and make new music. He toured across the country and world. His show consisted of both fan favorites such as Aaron's Party, I Want Candy and new tunes such as Girlfriend. His show was in a smaller venue, feeling more personal and intimate. Aaron had tons of energy and still great pipes. He might have gotten older but his determination is still as strong as it was when he was a kid. He looked good and sounded even better. He did flips and danced and got into his songs. Most importantly, he had fun up there. He wasn't taking it too seriously, but instead doing a great job performing and smiling. You can see his smile emerging in Smile and Listen Up. He is also very much a passionate performer on stage. With my Heart, Deep Inside, Seeing the Passion, Let it Out and Into the Song shows this. Dance Break is a shot of Aaron in the middle of his dancing and Strength shows Aaron about to show off his muscles. He even had a part during the show where he invites the audience to come on stage and sing/dance with him. At the end of the show, I got to meet him and he was extremely nice. I got to sit on a couch with him and just talk for a few minutes. He liked my guitar necklace and gave me a great hug and even kissed my cheek. I got him to sign 2 t-shirts also, one for me, and one for my friend. This was a great show and guess who's back? Aaron's back.

Modern Color in New York City

Golden Corner (2014)
Groovy (2014)
To ring in the next year I wanted to share some colorful photographs of New York City. I wanted to focus on the architecture and its diversity. One of the unique characteristics about NYC is its mixture of architecture. You can find buildings that date back to the 20s, all the way to buildings still being built now. It is quite fascinating to see the comparisons. For this shoot, however, I wanted to focus on the modern architecture and the wonderful colors they show. Most of these buildings are located on either Miracle Mile or Times Square. Miracle Mile is a mile filled with affordable living and health services. The area has been rebuilt and is constantly updated. Times Square is perhaps one of the most recognizable parts of NYC. It has been featured in so many shows, movies as well as songs and is filled with iconic theaters and shops. Groovy reminds me of the 60s with its use of circles, but instead of reds, yellows, and blues, its gray. I like how many shades of gray this has also. It is sharp and creative. For Golden Corner, I simply liked the colors. This building was in Times Square and it felt almost cartoonish for its vibrant colors. However this building adds a sense of liveliness in the busy city. Frozen Skies looks like a frame in time frozen. There is no sense of motion or activity. The clouds from the sky are not just reflected into the windows but they appear locked in and stuck in the windows. This reminds me of how sometimes things look too perfect to be real. Ordinary Spiced Up is taking an ordinary simple structure you might see anywhere and adding unusual colors. In this case, gray is mixed with a pale orange, not only a strange combination but one you don't see normally.
Lastly one of my favorite photographs I have taken is Jagged Edges. This photograph symbolizes the unpredictable nature of life. Each layer of this building is slightly different than the others but in the end, are ultimately the same shapes and colors. The jagged corners represent the twists and turns of life and its non-uniform structure shows the unpredictably. Just when you think you see a pattern in this photograph, it changes. This photo also represents how not everything is as it seems. Here the skyline is not only reflected on this building, but it is distorted. This shows how everyone views life through different lens. What one person sees is not the same as anyone else.
